over and over again

Maybe our old wounds teach us something.

They remind us where we’ve been and what we’ve overcome.

They teach us lessons about what to avoid in the future.

That’s what we like to think.

But that’s not the way it is, is it?

Some things we just have to learn over and over again.

Whether you've pushed me or pulled me down...

Drained me or fueled me...

Loved or left me...

Helped or hurt me...

No kidding!

I thank you. ;)

the one you NEED

God doesn't give you the people you want.

He gives you the people you NEED....

to help you,

to hurt you,

to leave you,

to love you

and to make you into the person

you were meant to be.

just let it go

You can't reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday's junk.

When the past calls, let it go to voicemail, it has nothing new to say.

Family isn't always blood.

It's the people in your life who want you in theirs.

The ones who accept you for who you are.

The ones who would do anything to see you smile

and who love you no matter what.

When nothing seems to help, I look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.

Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.

greatest feeling

The greatest feeling in the world is to be around someone who wants to hold you,

to kiss your forehead,

and to be around you.

Who wants to call you at night,

to see you smile.

But, what’s better than that is finding someone that does it all,

because he wants

to see you happy

Maybe sometimes you have to stop waiting for someone to come along and fix what's wrong.

Maybe you have to stop feeling sorry for yourself and realize that no one else has the answer.

Maybe sometimes you just have to be your own hero.

maybe having a choice...

‎Maybe that’s what it all comes down to. Love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way. And maybe making that choice, again and again, day in and day out, year after year, says more about love than never having a choice to make at all.

love and drugs

I’ve been in love before. It’s like a narcotic. At first, it brings the euphoria of complete surrender. The next day, you want more. You’re not addicted yet, but you like the sensation, and you think you can still control things. You think about the person you love for two minutes, and forget them for three hours. But then you get used to that person, and you begin to be completely dependent on them. Now you think about him for three hours and forget him for two minutes. If he’s not there, you feel like an addict who can’t get a fix. And just as addicts steal and humiliate themselves to get what they need, you’re willing to do anything for love.
